The first thing I've done is set up Collections in my Favorites, so I can easily access my Apophysis learning base in resource caches of Apophysis Guides, Tutorials, Resources (scripts,plug-ins etc), Gradients & Animations.

I have been unofficially mentored by for some months in Apophysis. Without his useful insights I would have been at wallowing in an Apo-blurr, groping for the light. . I'm still learning of course.
I recommend those who feel they need a bit of inside running, who want to get better, to find a mentor, it really helps.

I also hope more of you Apo-wizards will join up as potential mentors. I find there is nothing so helpful as one-on-one advice. I won't name names, but some fractals on DeviantArt just blow me away and all I can say is wowowowow sometimes. It would be great if some of their tips to excellent Apophysis fractals could be propogated amongst us hoi poloi.

This fractal, Witchy Brew [link] and its' sibling Caldron of Troubled Bubbles [link] are being called a New Style by cmptrwhz [link] ,but I think the praise really should go to cmptrwhz himself for his original tutorial, which I merely followed to create these fractals - Julian Chain tutorial [link]

He very kindly promoted my outcomes to Sophquest for a DD, et voila, suddenly I'm being viewed and commented on & praised by so many DA members I'm deluged.

It's a great feeling I must say. I've been stoked for days
It validates my efforts & methods and the ego is dancing.

Meanwhile, back on Earth,I've been chasing other elusive butterflies, following ID's hints on how to create amazing images like his Sanctum Sanctorum [link] and others, using the Boarders variation and limited tiling configurations.

I've come up with a few interesting results like Dubai Gold [link] and Golden Tower of Mammon[link] ,but so totally different to his originals. More Apophysis magic!

I've also just joined the Galaxy Club and creating spacescapes, like Hello Goldilocks [link] is very satisfying escapism when the news around our home planet gets just too hard to bear.

Last weeks have seen me busy researching further into Apo Animations & Scripting, but became seduced into the terrific Windows script of Cabin Tom [link] The diversity of imagery this script can produce is quite awesome, especially in Apophysis 2.05Z+beta_c+_R5.

Once again iDeviant, my mentor, has blown me away with his mind-boggling Sanctum Sanctorum [link] - he's really captured old stones & ruins beautifully.



Another Apo artist with a completely different style is the-panpiper. He has created a series of stylised representational fractals based on various real & mythological creatures. I just love them all. Here Comes the Deadly Mosquito [link] is outstanding. The mystical Sapphire Phoenix [link] has links to several others, but check out his Gallery.

Winter is close here now, but endless sunny mid-20's clear warm days are soul balm. It's that Champagne weather this region produces at this time of year that brings them here to de-stress & chillout from all-over Oz & os.

Many come to whalewatch, as the Humpback whale migration is on again, heading north up the east Oz coast to the warmer Great Barrier Reef waters to breed. The Cape Byron Lighthouse is the place to watch them pass and everyone's on the lookout for Migaloo, the white whale [link]

MMmmm...time to get out into it.....might even see Migaloo if I'm lucky....
