Ganymede Circus

The bot we left on Ganymede has finally sent us the data we have so long anticipated.

We were far into space in our cryopods [link] [link] when the conjunction of the Ganymede moons occurred.

We found the images on resuming work many eons later in the Arcturan system.

Check out what happened! It was a circus!

Those pods [link] released a payload of what we now understand to be virus species.

It happened in an extreme environmental episode under the influence of the moon conjunction when the whole surface of Ganymede erupted in geysers of fiery lava. The pods released secondary vehicle pods thus sending out the payload of virus at a safer height than Ganymede's now inhospitable surface. There the fingers of fire from below pierced them, dispersing the virus.

Some were further collected by harvesting vehicles, released by other another species of pod, and the virus was thus transported beyond the moons, and dispersed far out into the solar system.

There was no way we could have stood such conditions, confirmed by the incineration of the bot itself soon after sending this last data stream.

But what a coup! We are elated to have this unique event now captured in the expedition's data base.

So are unlocked the secrets of this strange planetoid-moon.

It seems all its' biota were focused in anticipation of this one event as nothing was left alive, the product was dispersed and the virus payloads, safe in their purpose-built carriers, no doubt eventually return to repopulate and repeat the process once the perturbations of this phase of the moon's cycle calms down to return to life-support once again in eons to come.

Meanwhile many of these intrepid space voyagers no doubt travel to other planets and moons and become part of the ecology where life exists. But without the Ganymede mechanisms, no doubt the reproductive life cycles mutate and are contained within less destructive biospheres.

N.B. All here is strictly fantasy, but some is based loosely on phenomenon that do exist in our solar system, not however on Ganymede. Apparently the planet Krypton [link] does have lava geysers and a bizarre flora
